District 102 Aptakisic Jr. High
Buffalo Grove, IL – The renovation and expansion of District 102 Aptakisic Junior High School was recently completed, providing for new classrooms, an expanded cafeteria and the creation of a 14,000-square-foot fine arts addition featuring new band, music, art, orchestra and multi-purpose rooms.
The expansion required the integration of a new state of the art lighting control system with the existing lighting control building automation system. The system features motion activated technology along with customized lighting scene control for various educational environments. The controls are expected to minimize electricity costs and ensure compliance with the latest energy codes. New remote capabilities allow the school to quickly respond to lighting needs, reduce the burden on school personnel who no longer need to be on site, and notify maintenance staff of potential maintenance issues.
Beyond delivering a high level of functionality, AEC successfully navigated unique challenges presented by the architectural design, including the installment of hanging fixtures alongside a floating ceiling and attention to other aesthetic detail.
